Girls on the Run of Montgomery County is a charitable organization that offers unique, life-changing, after school program for 3rd through 8th grade girls that is designed to promote healthy habits and an active lifestyle.

The dynamic 10 week program combines training for a 5k (3.1 mile) running race with education and interactive discussions about critical issues that will affect pre-teen girls as they reach adolescence. Trained coaches teach life lessons to girls through fun and clever running games and workouts.

Our goal is that girls completing the program are physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger and better prepared to overcome the challenges and pressures of adolescence and beyond.

Girls on the Run of Montgomery County is an Affiliate Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 140 chapters across the United States and Canada.

Since Girls on the Run of Montgomery County is a non-profit, we depend on donations to help fund our generous scholarship and shoe programs for disadvantaged girls right here in Montgomery County. It is our mission to bring the Girls on the Run curriculum to any girl in Montgomery County that wishes to participate, regardless of ability to pay.  Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to support us.

Healthy Tip #2

After your child exercises, be sure they rehydrate! This is a very important aspect to recovery that many kids overlook. The amount of energy spent needs to be replaced to allow the body to be ready for the next training session or exercise bout.
