GOTR Program Scholarship

Girls on the Run of Montgomery County strives to touch the loves of young girls throughou Montgomery County, MD regardless of their families' economic status.

• Eligibility: Our program cost is $153. However, a limited number of scholarships are awarded to girls in need of financial assistance in order to participate in the program. Currently we have 3 levels of financial assistance: $78 for families that qualify for FARMS, $13 for families that qualify for FARMS and have a household income less than $30,000, and full financial assistance.
• How to Apply: Applicants must submit a copy of the Free and Reduced Meals eligibility verification form (prior year for Fall season/current year for Spring season) along with their registration paperwork and applicable payment . Shoe Scholarship Program

Girls on the Run is fortunate to be sponsored by New Balance. Each season, New Balance provides a limited number of shoe vouchers to councils that request them. Girls on the Run of Montgomery County supplements the number of vouchers. We will do our best to provide running shoes to any girl that qualifies and truly needs new shoes.

• Eligibility: Any girl that is receiving the program at the $13 level or on full scholarship will qualify for free shoes.
• How to Apply: Coaches will provide a list of girls that are both eligible and in need after the first lesson.  We do not guarantee that we can fill every request.  Vouchers will be sent to the coaches for distribution. Vouchers can be brought to any retail location that sells New Balance shoes and exchanged for a new pair of running shoes. Shoe vouchers must be used the season that they are distributed. Shoes vouchers can only be used towards a pair of shoes for a GOTR participant. A recipeint may only receive one new pair per school year even if they run both seasons.
