Registration Information
FEES:
- The standard fee for GOTR/GOT is $153.
- The fee for a coach's daughter is $103.
- We also offer financial assistance in tiers. Families that qualified for Free and Reduced Meals (FARMS) through Montgomery County Schools last year (2008-2009) can choose a $78 fee. Families that qualified for FARMS and have a household income under $30,000 can choose a $13 fee. Both financial assistance options require a copy of the FARMS eligibility form from the prior or current (if available) school year to be submitted with registration. We also offer a limited number of need-based full scholarships. Please call our offices for more information.
Step One:
Fill out the Online Registration Form to register and pay via your computer. Your status will be immediately confirmed. Link to the form can be found in season on the home page.
OR
Fill out the Mail-in Print Registration Form to print and mail your registration with a check enclosed. If you apply with a mail-in paper application, we will contact you to let you know your status. Link to the form can be found in season on the home page.
Step Two:
Get ready to run!
This is a popular program, and we have taken care to institute the following procedures to ensure fairness for all:
Application Status
- Once you've applied online, your application status is immediately confirmed. However, if you are applying for financial assistance, a copy of the FARMS form must be mailed to our offices by the application deadline before status can be confirmed.
Waiting List Information
- If space is full for your preferred site, you will be on a wait list and offered a spot in the event of a cancellation.
Other Registation Information
- Priority registration is offered to returning participants, and to girls of participating coaches.
- Thereafter, registration is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Each program requires a minimum of 8 participants per site and is limited to a maximum of 15. No new registrations will be accepted after the 4th lesson of the program, and payment is expected by this time as well.
- Girls on the Run held at public schools will not be held on days that Montgomery County public schools are not in session or on early release days.
- Health forms and waivers will be handed out at the first lesson and must be returned by the 4th lesson to continue participation.
Program Expenses
Direct costs included in the fee price are:
- The 20 lessons conducted by a certified GOTR coach;
- End of lesson snacks;
- Lesson handouts and materials;
- A GOTR practice t-shirt, race t-shirt, and water bottle;
- Entrance fee for end of season community 5K race chosen by GOTR of Montgomery County;
- End of season award.
Indirect costs included in the fee price are:
- Costs associated with staff and coach training, and coaches materials,
- Fees paid to GOTR International,
- CPR certification and criminal background check,
- Classroom rental fees, and commercial insurance,
- Web site development and maintenance.
Fees are established based on household income. No participant will be turned away for financial reasons. See fee scale chart above:
Refunds
Girls the Run of Montgomery County will refund 50% of the registration fee if requested in writing prior to the 4th lesson of a Girls on the Run of Montgomery County program. No refunds will be issued for any terminations after the 4th lesson except in the event that an unforeseen illness or health issue arises after the 4th lesson. Such instances will be handled on a case by case basis and discussion and review will be held prior to refunding 50% of the registration fee. If a site is canceled due to insufficient registration or other circumstances deemed appropriate by the Executive Director, the full registration fee will be refunded.
Scholarship Shoe Program: New Balance, one of our corporate sponsors, also helps us to provide free running shoes to those whose financial situations make buying appropriate shoes difficult. If a girl participating in the program needs a pair of running shoes, please contact the GOTR of Montgomery County or your GOTR coach at your location..
