One sunny afternoon this past spring,196 girls, all members of Girls on the Run of Montgomery County gathered off a rural winding road near Germantown to run 3.1 miles, reaching for their personal bests....

The 2008 Spring Race was the first 5k for GOTR of Montgomery County. Held last May in balmy weather, the 250 registered runners were welcomed by NBC4's Veronica Johnson, warmed up with “Yogatale's” Sarah Schain, ran the hilly course around the South Germantown Soccerplex, and were treated to raffles, prizes, bagels and fruit at the finish.

In chilly temperatures, the 414 registered runners warmed up by Jazzercize, and were treated to nachos, salsa, and raffled prizes including t-shirts, socks and ipod holders. Donations were made to the Manna Lunch Program.
