Girls on the Run Alumna Scholarship Application Open

Eligibility criteria: This scholarship is open to any high school senior who is an alumna of Girls on the Run OR Girls on Track/Heart and Sole AND participated in either program for at least two seasons at a Montgomery County, MD site. Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 non-weighted scale. Student must attend an accredited trade school, community college, college, or university in Fall 2024 to receive the scholarship. The scholarship will be used to offset the cost of tuition and is non-renewable.  Value of this scholarship is $2,500. Recipient must commit to attending the Girls on the Run 5K on Sunday, May 19, 2024 to receive the award.

Directions: Submit application, including a 500 word essay (uploaded at the bottom of this application). The essay should address the following question:
   
What important qualities or life skills did you develop from your experience in Girls on the Run that influenced the choices you made in high school? Choose at least two life skills/qualities from the GOTR Toolbox (found here: https://bit.ly/2FlCYkq) and provide specific examples of how you applied them at home, in school, with peers and/or your community.

Application and essay must be submitted by April 19, 2024.

Selection criteria: Essay will be judged on content, degree to which the question is answered, and use of examples. Organization, level of content, development, grammar and mechanics, style and format will also be taken into consideration.
