A recent article in Women's Running highlights the importance of youth sports. Studies show that running at a young age improves resilience and social interactions, especially among at-risk youth. 

The Office of the U.S. Surgeon General and the U.S. Public Health Service recently released a report about the vital connection between physical activity and mental health. In it, Dr. Murthy highlighted Girls on the Run as an example of a program for girls to learn life skills through engaging activities and lessons. I wanted you to have a copy.

Girls deserve access to programming that supports and inspires them to be the best version of themselves, whatever that looks like for them. The good news is there are many programs that exist to support girls as they develop, and Girls on the Run is privileged to be one of them.

Being a community coach for GOTR is not only tons of fun, but the girls may teach you things about yourself and your own childhood. I feel so lucky to be a part of an organization that aims to provide a safe space for the pursuit of fitness.
